Barrett’s oESophagus Trial 3 (BEST3): A trial of a new GP-based test for patients with heartburn symptoms

The BEST3 Trial is a cluster randomised controlled trial comparing the Cytosponge™-TFF3 test with usual care to facilitate the diagnosis of oesophageal pre-cancer in primary care. The following types of the samples are collected as part of the Trial methodology: • Cytosponge™ samples • Saliva samples (TFF3-positive Cytosponge™ cases) • Endoscopic biopsy samples including gastric cardia and clinically-indicated oesophageal biopsies Cytosponge™ and endoscopic biopsy samples will be further processed into FFPE blocks and tissue sections.
