COVID-19

North East Innovation Lab Biobank

Year Started: 2021

We have established a collection of almost 20,000 residual COVID-19 respiratory swab samples in different sample buffers, obtained from our partnering Lighthouse Lab at Baltic Park, Gateshead, UK. Our samples also have the benefit of being accompanied by useful metadata including sample processing and acquisition details, ethical considerations, Ct distributions and variant of concern (VOC) analysis. We also have 1,400 serum samples from COVID-19-positive patients, and have prospectively collected 800 respiratory swab samples from COVID-19 patients in our surrounding hospitals and neighbouring communities. We offer a bespoke sample collection service, tailored to the specific needs of our customers, following ethical approval by our local Research Ethics Committee.
